Alexandra Rose Charities takes part in Urban Food Fortnight 2014

Urban Food Fortnight is a chance to celebrate the fabulous ultra-local produce being grown, produced and cooked on London's doorstep. Cafes, restaurants and retailers will connect with small scale London growers and producers, to showcase the best produce on offer in the Capital with special menus, one off events and supper clubs. Growing spaces and food groups will showcase their gardens with harvest feasts, pop up dinners, botanical cocktail nights and foraging walks.

These unique events and delicious menus are here for a limited time. So get involved and you will be supporting London’s small food enterprises and growers.

Kelly Parsons of the Ethical Eats network, which promoted these Urban Food festivals, said, “This produce is about as local as food gets, with many of the gardens and beehives within a few hundred metres, and sometimes even on the rooftops of the restaurants. The food is ultra-fresh; picked within a few hours and delivered straight to diners. There is an amazing range of international foods to choose from in London, but it’s just as important to celebrate our carrots from Battersea, lettuce from King’s Cross, and honey from Old Street.”
